About Open Banking

Open Banking enables you to securely share information with licensed third-party providers, so you can take advantage of a range of services designed to make banking better.

Open Banking provides the below services:

  • View all your accounts in one place, including those of other banks

  • Account balances

  • Transaction history

  • Domestic Fund Transfers

  • International Fund Transfers (provided only to India)

  • Scheduled payments.

Third Party Providers (TPPs) will always take your consent to access your accounts.

To provide the above listed services, a third-party provider will access your account using an Application Programming Interface or API.

Before doing so, they’ll ask for your consent and you will be securely redirected to the authentication process of ICICI Bank Ltd., Bahrain Branch. This will be similar to the way you log in for online banking.

Developer Portal

Third Party Service Providers (TPPs) in Bahrain can create an account on ICICI Bank’s developer portal to explore our Open Banking APIs, test them in our sandbox and access the latest documentation and services for our Open Banking products, including our TPP Implementation Guides.

You can also get in touch with our support team here, for any help or suggestion on how we can further improve our services.

FAQs – Open Banking/Third Party Providers (TPPs)

Open Banking allows you to share your ICICI Bank Bahrain Account information with Third Party Service Providers (TPPs), without sharing your log-in credentials. It also allows you to make payments directly from your ICICI Bank Bahrain Accounts through TPP websites or apps. However, sharing any information or carrying out payments is not allowed without your consent.

Please note that all TPP services are offered directly by the TPP under the terms you have agreed to with them.

Open Banking has been introduced by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) to give customers more control over their data and finances.

All banks and Third Party Providers involved in Open Banking must comply with data protection laws. TPPs must be registered with or licensed by the CBB and each TPP needs your explicit consent before they can access your Account(s) through Open Banking.

That is entirely up to you. Your data will only be shared if you authorise the same to be shared with a Third Party Provider (TPP).

The data will be shared in the below two categories:

Account Information Service Providers (AISP): They are authorised to retrieve Account data provided by banks and financial institutions, which include:

  • Account details

  • Account type

  • Account balance

  • Beneficiary details – Domestic

  • Beneficiary details-International (As of now, we are offering fund transfers only to India)

  • Transaction details.

Payment Initiation Service Providers (PISP): They are authorised to initiate payments into or out of a user’s account. This includes:

  • Single Domestic Payment

  • Single Domestic Future Payment

  • Single International Payment (As of now, we are offering fund transfers only to India)

  • Payment Status update

  • Payment charges, if applicable.

Yes, you will be able to use both platforms. Your account information will not be shared with third parties, unless you specifically give your consent.

To apply these services for ICICI Bank Bahrain Accounts, you will need to securely authenticate the same using your online banking credentials, which will enable you to deal with a Third Party Provider. You will receive on-screen instructions to guide you through the process. Depending on the access requested by the TPP and granted by you, ICICI Bank will then share data related to your account details, regular payments and transactions.

You can check out a list of authorised Third Party Providers (TPPs) on the CBB website.

Bahrain – Fund Transfer services such as Fawri+, Fawri, Fawateer and future dated payments can be carried out within Bahrain.

International – As of now, fund transfers are being offered only to India.

You can withdraw your consent on the TPP website or app.

No, you won’t be opted in automatically.

T&Cs.

If you use a Third Party Provider (TPP), these General Terms will still apply. Based on your consent, we will give the TPP access to your account information and you will be able to make the same payments through the TPP that you’d make if you were dealing with us online. Account information will include details about who you make payments to and receive payments from. This might contain some sensitive personal information, e.g. Account details, Beneficiary details etc.

We may refuse a TPP access to your account, if we feel that the TPP is unauthorised or acting fraudulently.

You must check all necessary information provided by the TPP which proves that they are authorised. If you give your security details to an unauthorised third-party, we will assume that you are authorising us to give access to information about your accounts and you will be held responsible for any payments made as a result. If we are aware that an unauthorised third-party is using your security details, we will duly block access to your accounts.

If you think a payment made through a TPP was unauthorised or incorrect, you must contact us immediately.
